Wine Affairs bring the fun of a Wine-ing with Grae event to the rarified world of wine auctions.

Wine Affairs take the intimidation out of wine auctions, but you don’t have to be a neophytes to enjoy them- auction veterans will wonder why no one has thought of this before.

Past Affairs

Our most recent “Wine Affair” was held at the W Union Square on November 30 and December 1, 2007.

On Friday evening Grae hosted a meal and tasting that featured fine and rare wines from the Verlin Cellar. Grae uncorked many personal favorites, which were paired with seasonal small dishes from Chef Todd English.

Saturday brought the main event. Hart Davis Hart conducted the auction at their Chicago headquarters. We joined them online.

It might have been a little early for some to contemplate the wines selected for tasting. But with the incredible food, again from Chef Todd English, it didn’t take long before everyone was ready for the hunt, or at the very least more outstanding wine.

Eric Ziller, one of New York’s top sommeliers, joined Grae as game co-host and seemed to have almost as much fun as the players.

When it came to the big game, Hart Davis Hart’s auction of the Verlin Collection in Chicago, more than a few collectors went home happier for having joined us in this new experience.

Sponsors for this Wine Affair event included Artisanal Cheeses, Petrossian caviar, The San Francisco Chocolate Factory, Reidel stemware and Q cigars. It would not have been the same without them.
